Gadget Show features the BATRIBIKE Breeze

The Batribike office was buzzing recently when the Gadget Show invited us to loan them a Breeze to be part of a segment of one of their challenges.

We had seen electric bikes on the Gadget Show before and knew that they get in a huge range of bikes and that there was a good chance that ours would not be pictured let alone mentioned.

The premise of the challenge was car valeting, Ortis and Pollyanna needed to choose a compact means of transport to collect cars quickly. The show went out on Monday, with a repeat showing this coming Saturday.

There were lots of different gadgets on offer not all of them with pedals. We were pleased that the presenters were able to point out that if the transport had power but no pedals it would have to be registered, taxed and MOT’d, whereas the electric bikes were just classed as bikes.

If you missed the show on Monday then catch the repeat on Channel 5 at 10:45 am on Saturday 8th October

Right from the beginning of the segment there were close up shots of the Breeze, part of the attraction may have been it's lovely Wine Red colour - there's no doubt it is an attractive bike.

Pollyanna chose to test ride the Breeze and commented on how easy it is to fold. Whilst she felt it wasn't as fast as one of the other bikes we know that it's gentle 'no drama' power is a hit with our customers. What a great endorsement of our bike.

It is very exciting to see your bike right there on the TV and we are delighted with the positive response we have had after the show.

Busy, Busy, Busy at Cycle Show 2011

We have now got back from a busy few days at the NEC where we attended the Cycle Show 2011. This moved from it's previous venue of Earls Court and this has now given more space and a greater riding area to test the commuter and electric bikes.

The organisers did a great job with a 600m test track starting right in front of our stand in hall 11 and extending outside into the glorious sunshine around the enclosed service roads. The corners were a little tight but they have taken this on board for an even better experience for the riders next year.

It was great to talk to our existing stockists who made it to the show on Trade Day on Thursday and to many potential new dealers for next year. Keep an eye on the website for details of where to buy in your local area.

It was also good to meet up with other traders and BEBA colleagues. Mark Loveridge from Ultra Motor being well received on the main stage when he gave a talk on Electric Bikes.

There were many more Electric Bicycle brands in attendance this year and BATRIBIKE had very good feedback from consumers who tried our bikes on the test track. "very smooth, easy to control" and "excellent value for money" being the two key phrases.

Our bikes were very popular and on the Granite, Diamond and Quartz models the Cycle Computer readouts gave an interesting picture of the amount of use these bikes got over four days. (The Breeze and Trike do not have this facility but were equally popular with testers).

  • Granite - 39.1 miles
  • Diamond - 34.2 miles
  • Quartz - 29.4 miles

TOTAL = 102.7 miles in only Four Days

We have estimated this to be about 257 laps of the test track! Incredible!

We were also extremely pleased that we only had to change 2 batteries on Saturday evening/Sunday morning for the whole of the fleet. Other bikes were having their power sources swapped several times per day.

We've already booked our space for next year!
