Batribike Represents BEBA at Westminster

POSTED: 12th July 2012

As members of BEBA and being on the working group of the British Electric Bicycle Association we often get the opportunity to attend meetings and events aimed at promoting cycling. Sometimes it can be the chance to put the case for including electric bikes in any national initiatives to promote cycling.

Portcullis House is a fascinating building with architecture that reflects its name.

Yesterday Sue represented BEBA at the APPCG (All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group) meeting at Portcullis House in London. The speaker for the meeting was Stephen Hodge, Government Relations Manager of the Cycling Promotion Fund in Australia. It was interesting to hear about how Australia is working to get more people cycling.

To improve cycling routes they have formed an alliance that not only includes all cycling groups but also the freight and transport industry. It seems that de-cluttering roads to make cycling safer also has a knock on effect on congestion, making freight routes faster!
