East of England Electric Bike RallyPOSTED: 5th May 2012
Electric bikes converged today on Great Yarmouth’s Golden Mile at the East of England Electric Bike Rally. The event was organised by Transport Electric UK an electric bike dealer based locally at Gorleston-on-Sea. A total of eleven manufacturers including Batribike attended the event and were able to demonstrate their bikes to visitors from all over East Anglia.
Recent weather conditions have been very inclement, today the wind was quite brisk but the rain stayed away and there was even a glimpse of sunshine for the visit of the Mayor and Mayoress of Great Yarmouth. Barry Coleman and Cllr. Mary Coleman were interested in many of the aspects of electric bikes, their place in the economy, and how a hire bike scheme could be used to aid tourism.

Interested visitors were able to test ride electric bikes from all the attending manufacturers and Peter Eland editor of Electric Bike Magazine was on hand to give out free copies of the magazine and talk about many aspects of electric bike riding.
The test ride area was the newly opened Landau Plaza. The specially built lane is dedicated to cyclists and the horse drawn Landau carriages that it is named after.
Many thanks go to Kim and Geoff for organising the event and to David Helsdon, Tourism Events Manager for Great Yarmouth Borough Council who fully supported the event and was on hand all day to ensure that things ran smoothly.
