Straight off, some of our testers liked the low, step-through frame and comfortable saddle, but what we really wanted to know about was this bike’s electric capability.
In use, it had a multi-function LCD display that permitted the selection of six levels of pedal assistance, plus there’s a throttle and an easy start option. The drive comes from a 36v 11Ah battery powering a 250W motor in the rear hub and, according to the manufacturer, it should be capable travelling around 24 miles at something like 15mph without pedalling before the battery runs out.
We found the thumb throttle easy to use, so much so that the temptation was just to use the electric motor only. When we used it properly by using the motor to help make pedalling easier, it all came together for an easy ride. Folding it up took a little getting used to and it weighed in at 22.5kg.
